Rowan Gouws and Ross Deacon commit to Rugby ATL

Rugby ATL have secured two more returning players for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. Eightman Ross Deacon has renewed his deal for one year, while scrumhalf Rowan Gouws has committed through at least the 2024 campaign.

Deacon, who turns 29 later this week, was one of three players used at the back of the scrum in 2022 along with Jason Damm and Daemon Torres. The former USA u20 representative made 10 appearances but started just twice as Torres emerged as the preferred option to fill in as Damm returned from injury.

Gouws continues to rotate with Ryan Rees in the No9 shirt. The 27-year-old South Africa played in 15 matches with 9 starts this season. With Evan Conlon selected in the Collegiate Draft, the Ratlers now have three scrumhalves committed for the new year.
