Zion Going to return for second season with Utah Warriors

Zion Going will play a second Major League Rugby season with the Utah Warriors. The 21-year-old scrumhalf arrived from Australian club Tuggeranong Vikings part-way through the 2022 campaign and impressed with his aggressive attacking style.

Originally from New Zealand, Going is US-eligible through ancestry and will be followed closely by Eagles selectors. He made seven appearances in the second half of the season, including four consecutive starts before missing the finale against Dallas.

Going was one of three senior scrumhalves on Utah’s roster in 2022 along with Niall Saunders and Danny Christensen, but is the only returnee confirmed. Connor McLeod is set to take the leading role in 2023 after signing on from Hawke’s Bay, while prospect Tai Kauwe should be the third option after being the 9th-overall selection in this year’s Collegiate Draft.
