Nate Augspurger back for 6th campaign with Legion

One of the Legion’s most popular players will be back for a sixth Major League Rugby season in San Diego. Nate Augspurger has re-signed with the club for the 2023 campaign, following fellow ‘original’ Nathan Sylvia in committing with a new home awaiting in Snapdragon Stadium.

Augspurger has been part of the Legion’s senior leadership since their inception in 2018. When fit, the USA international is among the most dynamic scrumhalves in MLR. Injuries, however, continue to plague the 32-year-old and he missed six games during the 2022 campaign.

Canada’s Jason Higgins and local prospect Nico Gilli were each on the roster this past season but neither have been confirmed to date. The team is set to welcome back Ethan McVeigh, who recently toured Uruguay with the USA Falcons. He was part of the team in 2021 but then returned to Cardiff Metropolitan University in Wales. McVeigh is currently playing for the American Raptors.
