ATL re-signs Barton and Talapusi, commits to Silverbacks Park

Rugby ATL have re-signed George Barton and Martini Talapusi for the 2023 Major League Rugby campaign. At the same time the club has confirmed they will stay at Silverbacks Park for next season and beyond.

Barton, 25, joined the Ratlers part-way through this past season after departing the Seattle Seawolves. The Canadian international made six appearances with two starts, providing valuable go-forward with ball in hand and cover for Will Leonard at inside center.

Injuries have limited Talapusi’s impact in each of his three seasons with the club. When fit, his ability to cover flyhalf, center, or fullback and accurate goal kicking have proved assets to ATL’s backline. The 27-year-old represented the USA at the 2017 Americas Pacific Challenge.

The Ratlers are now the primary tenants of Silverbacks Park, also referred to as ‘The Snake Pit’. ATL made the switch from its former home, Life University’s Lupo Family Field, ahead of the 2022 season. The club has not specified the length of its new agreement, describing it simply as a multi-year partnership.
