NOLA signs Taranaki and Chiefs flanker Tom Florence

NOLA Gold have bolstered their loose forward resources with the signing of Tom Florence on a two-year deal through the 2024 Major League Rugby season. The 24-year-old New Zealander was a standout at provincial level and has also appeared in Super Rugby.

Florence represented his country at the 2018 World Rugby u20 Championship. He had already made his senior provincial debut for Taranaki a year earlier at the age of just 19. The Highlanders called up him to play one game as a replacement in the 2020 Super Rugby season, and Florence would join the Chiefs in each of the past two seasons.

Though primarily a flanker, Florence can also play at No8 and joins an impressive group of loose forwards at NOLA. Andrew Guerra is set to return from injury to join fellow Eagles flanker Moni Tonga’uiha, while Devin Short recently earned USA Falcons honors. Collegiate All-American duo Maciu Koroi and Malcolm May are also returning. Eagles veteran Cam Dolan will make the shift to lock for the 2023 campaign.
