Chris Robshaw announces retirement

Chris Robshaw has announced his retirement from the game with immediate effect. The 36-year-old made the announcement on social media, bringing down the curtains on an 18-year professional career that included two seasons in Major League Rugby with the San Diego Legion.

A rare one-club man before making the move abroad, Robshaw played over 200 games in the English Premiership and nearly 300 all told for Harlequins. The flanker won 66 test caps for England and captained his country on 43 occasions, including at the 2015 World Cup.

In 2021 Robshaw signed a two-year deal with the Legion but his first season was limited to just four appearances due to a dislocated shoulder. The injury would reoccur in San Diego’s final game of the 2022 season against Seattle in June. His MLR account closes at 18 games and 10 starts, with one try scored.
