Utah signs Hawke’s Bay scrumhalf Connor McLeod

Utah have announced the signing of scrumhalf Connor McLeod on a multi-year contract of unspecified length. The 25-year-old will arrive for the 2023 Major League Rugby season from Hawke’s Bay Magpies in New Zealand’s National Provincial Championship.

McLeod advanced through Otago’s age-grade system and represented NZ Universities in 2018 and 2019. He made his senior provincial debut with Otago in the fall of 2019 and was a regular in the match squad before moving to Hawke’s Bay in 2020.

The Warriors have now added four overseas players to their squad during the off-season, following flyhalf Joel Hodgson, second or back row Onehunga Havili, and hooker Henry Bell. Lock Jonah Dietenberger was acquired from San Diego and five players were selected in the 2022 Collegiate Draft.
