Roman Salanoa set to play for Ireland ‘A’ against All Black XV

Roman Salanoa has been named in the Ireland ‘A’ squad to prepare for Friday’s match against an All Black XV in Dublin. The 24-year-old tighthead prop from Hawai’i was one of a dozen names included on the list outside the main senior squad.

It’s not the first time Salanoa will have worn an Irish jersey. He recently traveled to South Africa with Emerging Ireland to play matches against three provincial sides – Griquas, Pumas, and Cheetahs.

Though Ireland ‘A’ are considered a ‘capture’ side, New Zealand rugby has opted not to designate the All Black XV as their ‘next senior‘ side. That means that Salanoa will not be prevented from playing for the US Eagles should he opt to do so in the near future. He has previously turned out for the USA u20s.
