Argentina XV roster including Pumas named for Uruguay Conference

A 28-man Argentina XV roster has been named for the Uruguay conference. The Argentine next-of-XV will play matches against the USA Falcons and the Uruguay XV in Montevideo this month.

The Uruguay Conference is to be the second assignment of the year for the Argentina XV. The team toured Europe during the July Internationals. The Argentina XV defeated Georgia 30-24 and Portugal 52-35 in away matches.

The roster is much changed from July. The forwards include former Super Rugby players Ignacio Calas and Santiago Medrano. Both have played in multiple professional teams including in Australia. The latter is on the roster following the demise of the Worcester Warriors.

Fullback Juan Ignacio Landó earns a call-up after previously playing for Ciencias Sevilla in Spain. Similarly, Joaquín de la Vega Mendía has an opportunity following the 2022 Major League Rugby season.

The roster is also packed with players from teams from the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR). Among them are hooker Ignacio Ruiz and flanker Pedro Rubiolo. Both men made their debuts for Los Pumas this year. Medrano is the other capped player on the roster. Scrum-half Eliseo Morales is close to a first cap.
