Gloucester recruit prop Mayco Vivas from Argentina

Gloucester have added to their contingent of Pumas. The English Premiership club has recruited Mayco Vivas from Argentina. The signing process began in September during the 2022 Rugby Championship when Vivas was with the team preparing for Saturday’s test match against the world champions in Durban. Gloucester confirmed the signature on October 05.

The move to Gloucester will mark the first professional experience abroad for the 24-year-old. Vivas has previously played Super Rugby for Los Jaguares and Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) for Los Jaguares XV. He is to move to England after the Rugby Championship and begin his career in Gloucester in October.

Gloucester is home to  Pumas Matías Alemanno, Santiago Carreras, and Santiago Socino. All three have played in the 2022 Rugby Championship. Alemanno and Carreras hold down starting positions. Vivas and Socino were both replacements in Argentina’s historic win over the All Blacks in New Zealand.

Vivas is from Rafaela in Santa Fé province. He is a product of CRAR (Círculo Rafaelino de Rugby). He went through the domestic high performance system, rising to the top where he was playing Super Rugby at a young age. He has been a Puma since 2019 and presently has 16 test caps.
