Old Glory confirm return of Uruguay hooker Facundo Gattas

Old Glory DC have confirmed the return of Uruguay hooker Facundo Gattas for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 27-year-old is the 8th returning player to be made official by the club, and will this year be joined by former Hindú clubmates Lautaro Bavaro and Joaquín Díaz Bonilla.

Gattas was set to be a major addition for Old Glory’s front row but his season was cut short by injury in just his second appearance. A broken foot just minutes into the game against New York put an end to both his domestic campaign and to his chances of playing for Uruguay against Japan and Romania.

DC fans will be hoping for better luck in 2023, with a fully fit Gattas certain to play a vital role in Old Glory’s pack. Loosehead prop Jack Iscaro is also returning, while the club selected three front rowers in the Collegiate Draft – props Cali Martinez and Alex Balladares, and hooker Jack Manzo.
