Free Jacks sign Canadian-eligible prop Conor Young

The New England Free Jacks have signed 27-year-old prop Conor Young for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. Originally from Australia, he represented Canada at the 2015 World Rugby u20 Trophy tournament and played for Scotland Clubs against their Irish counterparts in 2019.

Young has made over 50 Shute Shield appearances for Southern Districts since debuting in 2016. He then played for Greater Sydney Rams in Australia’s National Rugby Championship the following year. Two seasons with Southern Knights in the Scottish Super 6 followed before a return to Sydney last year.

This past year saw Young securing the starting No3 shirt for Southern Districts, though he is equally comfortable at loosehead prop. He is the third front row addition for the Free Jacks during the off-season, following Toronto Arrows hooker Andrew Quattrin and Collegiate Draft pick Ivan Pula.
