Jurie van Vuuren commits to fourth season with Utah

Jurie van Vuuren has signed on for a fourth Major League Rugby season with the Utah Warriors. The 29-year-old follows fellow returning forwards Saia Uhila and Lance Williams in committing for 2023.

Since arriving from South Africa in 2020 van Vuuren has been an ever-present in the Warriors lineup. This past season he played all 16 games, 15 of them starts, and once again featured primarily at the back of the scrum though he also covered lock when Utah’s second row stocks were thinned.

Originally from Ladybrand, near the western border of Lesotho, van Vuuren toured Argentina with the Junior Springboks in 2013. He made his Super Rugby debut with the Stormers a year later and would stay in the Western Cape until moving to Port Elizabeth with the Southern Kings in 2017.
