New York trades for Seawolves stalwart Brad Tucker

Rugby New York have acquired Brad Tucker from the Seattle Seawolves in exchange for salary cap considerations in the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The New Zealand native, who turns 30 next month, is set to join younger brother Will Tucker on the East Coast.

Tucker arrived in Seattle ahead of the title-winning 2019 campaign and was named the league’s MVP that year. He played every game of his first two seasons with the club. Injuries limited Tucker’s contributions in 2021 and 2022 but he still managed to play 20 times including a dozen appearances this past season.

When fully fit the 6’5″ (1.95m) forward is a fierce competitor who is equally at home at lock or blindside flanker. The Tucker brothers memorably lined up opposite each other in the 2022 Championship Final that was ultimately won by New York this past June.
