NOLA signs former Hurricanes scrumhalf Luke Campbell

NOLA have added a second halfback with Super Rugby experience to their ranks for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. Former Hurricanes scrumhalf Luke Campbell has signed on, following Brumbies flyhalf Rodney Iona in agreeing a two-year deal with the Gold.

Campbell made his senior debut with Bay of Plenty at the age of 21. He got the call up to the Hurricanes in 2021 and made an immediate impression, playing 12 matches including 9 starts. A one-year deal with French Pro D2 club Narbonne followed. The 27-year-old is currently playing with Manawatu in New Zealand’s National Provincial Championship.

There are now three scrumhalves on NOLA’s books for the new season. Namibia international Damian Stevens will return for his third MLR campaign while the club selected Sebastiano Villani with the 2nd-overall pick in last month’s Collegiate Draft.
