Utah signs long-time Newcastle flyhalf Joel Hodgson

The Utah Warriors have announced the signing of flyhalf Joel Hodgson. Though the specific length of the contract has not been announced, the club have confirmed it is a multi-year deal. Hodgson arrives from the UK having most recently been on the books for Glasgow Warriors.

An England age-grade international up to u19 level, Hodgson is best known for a decade of service with Newcastle Falcons. He started his professional career in 2010 at the age of 18 with Newcastle and after brief spells with Northampton and Yorkshire Carnegie he returned to Kingston Park in 2016.

Hodgson joins an impressive trio of No10 options at Utah with incumbent starter Caleb Makene and Namibian international Cliven Loubser both set to return. Makene and Loubser are also comfortable at fullback. The is former currently playing with Hawke’s Bay in New Zealand.
