San Diego Legion adds Alex Corbisiero to coaching staff

The San Diego Legion have announced the addition of Alex Corbisiero as Scrum Coach for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. He makes the move from the LA Giltinis, and joins a senior staff that includes Head Coach Danny Lee and assistants Scott Murray and Jack Wiggins.

Corbisiero’s credentials as a professional player are well-known. Though born in New York, he won 31 caps for England and played in two tests for the British & Irish Lions. Since retiring as a player in 2016 at the age of just 27, Corbisiero has combined coaching with a successful career as a television analyst.

The Legion have also confirmed that Charlie Purdon is joining the Academy coaching staff while also working with community and performance development pathways. A former scrumhalf for the San Diego Breakers in PRO Rugby, he was previously an academy coach with the Giltinis and is currently Head Coach at the University of San Diego.
