NOLA secure Moni Tonga’uiha on long-term deal

Moni Tonga’uiha will be staying in New Orleans for the foreseeable future. The US Eagles flanker has inked a two-year contract extension with the Gold. Having already been signed through the upcoming 2023 campaign, he is now secured through at least the 2025 Major League Rugby season.

This past season saw Tonga’uiha appearing in 15 of 16 games for NOLA, including 14 starts, with three tries scored. He was voted the club’s Most Valuable Player by his peers. The 27-year-old made his 50th competitive appearance for the club on April 16th against the Toronto Arrows.

With Devin Short recently re-signing through 2024 and USA international Andrew Guerra already signed for the same length, the Gold now have three flankers on the Eagles watch list committed on long-term deals. Tonga’uiha has 2 caps and played against the French Barbarians in July. Guerra has 6 caps, while the uncapped Short has played for the USA u20 side.
