Argentina add winger for All Blacks in Christchurch

Argentina have added a winger to their roster. Mateo Carreras joins Los Pumas in Christchurch ahead of his country’s first of two test matches in New Zealand.

The call-up is the first for Carreras under Michael Cheika. Carreras made his test debut under Mario Ledesma in 2021. He was established on the roster at the end of the year but was not selected for Argentina’s host matches against Scotland or Australia. He played for the Argentina XV against Georgia and Portugal.

Carreras joins four other back-three players. He can play fullback, though he is selected as a winger. The same applies to Emiliano Boffelli and Santiago Cordero. Bautista Delguy is also on the roster while Juan Cruz Mallía is the one player officially selected as a fullback.
