2022 MLR Collegiate Draft Order Guide

Major League Rugby has confirmed the order of selection – as it stands – for the third edition of the Collegiate Draft, which will take place on August 18th. Each team receives one selection per round with a total of three rounds to take place.

A number of trades have affected selections but notably the process of determining the draft order itself has changed this season. Below we will identify what the changes are, how many picks each team has, the current order, and the trades that affected each selection.

 

Initial Selection Order

Where last season draft positions were given based on reserve order of the regular season standings, this season has taken into account playoff positions. Final season ranking still applies but are altered by playoff position as follows:

13th pick – Champion
12th pick – Finalist
11th pick – Conference Finalist 1 (higher ranked)
10th pick – Conference Finalist 2 (lower ranked)
9th pick – Playoff Qualifier 1 (higher ranked)
8th pick – Playoff Qualifier 2 (lower ranked)

The remaining picks go by reverse order of the regular season standings.

Number of Selections

As things stand Dallas and NOLA will have the most number of selections with 7 and 6 respectively. At the other end LA will have none, while both Austin and Houston will have just one selection each.
