Harrison Goddard leaves MLR for Super Rugby

Harrison Goddard has signed with the Waratahs for the 2023 Super Rugby season. The 24-year-old scrumhalf returns to Australia after a two-year stint with the LA Giltinis in Major League Rugby. He is currently playing with Gordon in the Shute Shield.

Goddard proved a revelation for the Giltinis, helping to guide them to an MLR title in their inaugural season in 2021. This past year a spate of injuries at the club saw him also filling in impressively at flyhalf, showing off his array of skills with accurate goal kicking.

This will be the second Super Rugby outfit for Goddard. Before moving to the USA, he was on the books for the Melbourne Rebels. Across the 2018 and 2019 seasons Goddard appeared in 6 matches with no stars. He had previously represented Australia at u20 level and at the Hong Kong Sevens.

Former LA coach Darren Coleman is now heading up the Waratahs. He brought in ex-Giltinis hooker Mahe Vailanu last season, while flanker Christian Poidevin has been linked with a move to New South Wales following the departure of Carlo Tizzano to Ealing Trailfinders.
