Brazil regain core status on Sevens Series after Russia dropped

Brazil have regained core status on the World Sevens Series. As Yaras were initially relegated after finishing 11th at the conclusion of the 2021-2022 season. However, Russia have now been formally dropped from the circuit which sees the South Americans thrown a lifeline.

This past season saw Brazil finish ahead of England on four occasions but a third-place finish for the Red Roses in Seville earned them a 9th-place spot. It was Spain who were closest to As Yaras, finishing just two points ahead in 10th spot. England will not be participating this season with a Great Britain side instead taking their place.

The 2022-2023 Series will see the women’s circuit increase from six to seven tournaments, starting in Dubai in early December. Vancouver will host in early March, but at present there is no women’s tournament scheduled to take place in the USA. Toulouse will host the Series finale in May.

Stage 1 – Dubai (United Arab Emirates) – December 2-3, 2022
Stage 2 – Cape Town (South Africa) – December 9-11, 2022
Stage 3 – Hamilton (New Zealand) – January 21-22, 2023
Stage 4 – Sydney (Australia) – January 27-29, 2023
Stage 5 – Vancouver (Canada) – March 3-5, 2023
Stage 6 – Hong Kong (China) – March 31-April 2, 2023
Stage 7 – Toulouse (France) – May 12-14, 2023
