Barranquilla to host South American 2022 Tri Nations in August

The Colombian city of Barranquilla will play host to the South American Tri Nations in August. Colombia, Brazil and Paraguay will compete at the Estadio Olímpico Romelio Martínez in the first post pandemic tournament in the region.

The competition is an updated version of South American competition. It represents the second category in level terms with the RWC qualified and qualifying category teams of Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay being the South American elite.

The matches in the South American Tri Nations will be capped test matches will world rankings on the line. At present Brazil is 29th in the world, Colombia is 34th and Paraguay is 47th.

The fixtures will be played on three match dates. The opening match will be Colombia vs Paraguay while the closing match will be Colombia vs Brazil. These two fixtures will be played six days apart. Paraguay play host to Brazil in between.

The test teams of Los Tucanes, Os Tupis and Los Yacáres will all have players that featured in SLAR 2022.
