Spain have revised their traveling squad for Sunday’s test match against Canada in Ottawa. Eight players from the original group of 33 will not travel, with 26-year-old VRAC winger Pedro de la Lastra called up to the squad for the first time.
Last week it emerged that seven players did not have the second vaccine dose required to enter Canada. The most notable of those are Biarritz lock Gorbei Allende and Viadana utility back Iñaki Mateu. Meanwhile 18-year-old winger Alberto Carmona will stay home to complete his high school examinations.
The absentees should not affect preparations for Santiago Santos. Only four of the team that finished within seven points of the Classic All Blacks in May will miss the trip. Starting loosehead prop Fernando Lopez continues to captain the side with Bayonne flyhalf Manuel Ordas a key figure in the backs.
