Significant Changes to Argentina XV for tour to Georgia and Portugal

There have been significant late changes to the Argentina XV. Days out from departing for the tour to Georgia and Portugal, there have been six changes to the roster.

Head Coach Ignacio Fernández Lobbe has recalled Felipe Ezcurra. Having initially been left-out, Ezcurra replaces Gonzalo Bertranou who will now play for Los Pumas against Scotland. Previously, Matías Moroni also received a call-up to Los Pumas. His spot on the Argentina XV went to Juan Pablo Castro.

Five others have been added to the roster. Changes come with Facundo Bosch, Manuel Bernstein, Rodrigo Fernández Criado, and Federico Lavanini all out injured. Their places on the roster have gone to Pablo Dimcheff, Nicolás D’Amorim, Nahuel Milán, Gregorio Hernández and Andrea Panzarini.

The Argentina XV will be captained by Francisco Gorrissen. The flanker plays his rugby in France for Vannes. He is joined by Ignacio Calles, Felipe Ezcurra, Lucas Mensa and Joaquín Oviedo as French-based players on the roster.

Georgia has qualified for Rugby World Cup 2023. The Lelos have competed in every RWC since their first appearance in 2003. They have previously faced Argentina at RWCs 2007, 2011 and 2015. They last met in a test match in Jujuy in 2017.

There have also been matches bewteen the Argentina XV and Georgia. The Argentina XV has one win and Georgia two. The Argentina XV won 26-26 in Tbilisi in 2014 while Georgia won 14-13 in Bucharest, Romania in 2011 and 24-22 in Tbilisi in 2009.
