Eagles to face England in final World Cup warm-up

The USA will face off against England at Sandy Park on September 3 as part of their final preparations for October’s World Cup. It will be the last stop for the Eagles prior to departure for New Zealand.

Sandy Park is the home of the Exeter Chiefs, who compete in both the Men’s Premiership and the Women’s Premier 15s. Six USA internationals featured for the side this past season with the club reaching their first ever Premier 15s final though ultimately finishing runners-up to Saracens.

England are currently ranked No1 in the world and are favorites to win the tournament. The USA defeated the Red Roses in the 1991 World Cup Final but have lost all 18 matches between the two since. Their most recent result was a record 89-0 drubbing at Worcester last November.

The Eagles recently snapped an eight-test losing streak with their Pacific Four victory over Australia in Auckland. They will reconvene in August for a training camp, with Head Coach Rob Cain yet to confirm his final squad of 30 players for the World Cup.
