Peñarol down American Raptors in Colorado

Peñarol downed the American Raptors on Saturday in Glendale, Colorado. The young Uruguayan team wearing the colors of the SLAR 2022 champions were 26-10 winners.

The Uruguayans had a one man advantage for the majority of the contest. A red card to the home side was too much for them to recover from. Peñarol played a well-structured game and came away with the win by four tries to two.

The first half saw two tries to the visitors. Fullback Ignacio Álvarez and second-rower Facundo Rizzo were the scorers. The home side’s score went to winger Dcota Dixon.

The American Raptors’ second try was also scored by a winger. David Still picked-up from the base of a ruck and completed an impressive swan five for the score. Peñarol’s second half saw flanker Juan Martín David and scrum-half Joaquín Suárez scoring tries.

The match was the final fixture of the 2022 Challenge Cup of the Americas. In their earlier matches both teams were beaten Peñarol fell to a loss against Vancouver side UBCOB Ravens while the American Raptors were beaten by Argentine side Los Jaguares XV.
