Gold extensions for Devin Short and Harley Wheeler

NOLA have secured two of their top performers from this past season on two-year extensions. Flanker Devin Short and winger Harley Wheeler have committed to the Gold through the end of the 2024 Major League Rugby campaign.

Short secured the No7 shirt in the absence of injured Eagles international Andrew Guerra and put himself on Gary Gold’s watch list with some outstanding efforts, particularly in the second half of the season. With his 24th birthday a week away he looks poised for big year in 2023, while also providing NOLA coach Kane Thompson with a selection puzzle upon Guerra’s return.

Wheeler, 25 enjoyed his best season to date with 14 starts on the right wing and a team-leading 6 tries scored. He tied a club record with a hat-trick against Old Glory DC last month. The USA Sevens cap is another who looks set to press for Eagles selection if he builds on his late-season form in 2023.
