Romania Roster Named to Tour Uruguay

Romania has named a 37-man roster for the July Internationals. The Eastern Europeans will tour Uruguay and also play a test match against Italy. The fixtures will begin at home against Italy on July 01 and be followed by tests in Montevideo on July 10 and 17.

The roster contains twenty-one forwards and sixteen backs. The roster is predominantly made up of homebred players. They are joined by some based in France and Portugal.

Of note is the retune of Florin Vlaicu.The 35-year-old is the most capped Romanian player. His 128 caps including appearances at RWCs 2007, 2011 and 2015. He was set to appear in a fourth RWC but Romania were disqualified for breaching player eligibility laws.

Vlaicu has scored 1024 points for Romania. This makes him the highest point scorer of all active test match rugby players. He is placed 6th on the all-time list. He may overtake the retired Ronan O’Gara and Neil Jenkins before RWC 2023.
