Austin disqualified from Major League Rugby playoffs

In a sudden and dramatic turn of events, the Austin Gilgronis have been disqualified from competing in the Major League Rugby postseason. An announcement from Major League Rugby on Friday morning confirmed the news though the league has yet to provide a statement for the decision, citing only a “violation of league rules.”

As it stands it now appears that either San Diego or Seattle will advance to the Western Conference Playoff that will now be hosted by Houston. The Legion have already completed their regular season schedule and have a two-point lead on the Seawolves, who play a road game against LA on Sunday.

The Giltinis now advance directly to the Western Conference Final, and with no chance of catching the Free Jacks for first place overall may now take the opportunity to rest key players against Seattle. A victory, however, would guarantee them home field advantage in the Championship Final should LA advance and New England be defeated.
