Two SLAR teams to play North American opponents in Colorado

Infinity Park in Glendale, Colorado, will host a four-game exhibition series involving two North American sides and two from South America. Dubbed the “Challenge Cup of the Americas”, the participating teams include champions Peñarol and the Jaguares XV from SLAR, the local American Raptors, and the UBC Old Boy Ravens from Vancouver.

The South American rosters are likely to be filled by development players from the professional outfits. Los Jaguares are contributing nine players to the Argentina XV squad bound for Europe in early July, and two to Los Pumas. The bulk of the senior Peñarol squad will be traveling to Japan with Uruguay for tests on June 18 and 25.

UBC are an amateur club side that compete in the BC Premier League. They have previously taken on Major League Rugby opponents in preseason matches. The Raptors are a development side largely comprised of crossover athletes supplement with established rugby talent. They notably traveled to Montevideo last November to play the Uruguay Academy side.

All four matches will be streamed on the Infinity Park website.
