Joel Sclavi and Facundo Bosch Impress in Champions Cup Victory

Joel Sclavi and Facundo Bosch are 2022 European club champions. The Argentine front-rowers were second-half replacements for La Rochelle who defeated Leinster. The victory gave the French club its first ever trophy at the elite level; remarkably European glory came before winning the Top 14 title.

La Rochelle coach Ronan O’Gara commented that his team won with the basics of a scrum. Sclavi and Bosch were a part of that.

Sclavi played as the replacement tight head prop. He wore the number 18 shirt for La Rochelle. Bosch was the replacement hooker and played in the number 16 shirt. Both men carried well, did well in the scrum and in the line-out.

Both players are expected to be playing for Los Pumas in 2022. The question is not if but when. The hooker from Náutico de Necochea has 12 caps. Sclavi is uncapped, but this is a reflection on past injuries at the wrong times not his abilities.
