Francisco Gómez Kodela and Lyon win Challenge Cup Title

Francisco Gómez Kodela was a part of a winning effort in the 2022 Challenge Cup Final. Lyon were 30-12 winners over Toulon in an all-French clash. The title is the biggest accomplishment in the history of the club.

Pumas tight head, Gómez Kodela featured as a replacement for Lyon. The beaten finalists had a Puma of their own in Facundo Isa. Both men received test recalls in 2020 and remained in the team in 2021. They are well-placed for opportunities in 2022.

He Challenge Cup winning Puma joined Lyon in 2016. He did so from Top 14 rivals Bordeaux. Prior to Bordeuax, Gómez Kodela also previously played in France’s elite competition for Biarritz. All told, he has been playing professional rugby in the Top 14 since 2011.

Gómez Kodela is a product of Belgrano Athletic in Buenos Aires. He was born and raised in the Argentine capital. He made his test debut for Argentina in 2008 against Uruguay in Montevideo. He has 21 caps. His recall was the famous win over New Zealand in Sydney in 2020.
