Tomás Albornoz Pushes case for Pumas Debut as Benetton Humiliate Cardiff

Benetton finished their 2021-2022 United Rugby Championship (URC) season in style. The Italian side scored ten tries against Cardiff in what was a 69-21 win. The result was the third biggest win in URC history.

The Italians had a number of Argentines in their line-up. Tomás Albornoz played fly half, Juan Ignacio Brex played center, and Thomas Gallo played loose head prop. In addition, Ivan Nemer, Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro and Joaquin Riera were all replacements.

Gallo and Tetaz Chaparro are both Pumas while Italy has capped Brex and Nemer. Albornoz and Riera are uncapped, though Albornoz is a strong candidate for Argentina’s 10 shirt. Albornoz certainly pushed his case today for a Pumas debut in July against Scotland. Albornoz was the stand-out Argentine on the field. He ran in two tries for Benetton.
