Pablo Matera is in magnificent form. The Argentine flanker won Man of the Match for the third time this season for the Crusaders in Super Rugby 2022. Matera previously won Man of the Match against Moana Pasifica in March and against the Melbourne Rebels in April.
The Crusaders faced and defeated the competition leading Brumbies in Canberra on Friday. The 37-26 road win virtually guarantees the Crusaders of a home play-off in the Super Rugby Pacific competition.
Matera’s game stats against the Crusaders were gains of 41 meters as a ball-carrier from 13 carries, and 6 defenders beaten. It is welcome news for Argentina as Matera is the only capped flanker based in the Southern Hemisphere. Some players based in Europe may be rested from Los Pumas in July.
The Crusaders now turn their attention to the Fijian Drua. The Crusaders return from Australia for the next part of the regular season. They host the Fijian side on May 20 before facing the Reds on May 27.
