Highs and Lows for Americas as Castres Relegate Biarritz to Pro D2

Castres Olympique defeat Biarritz Olympique 48-13 on Saturday in the French Top 14. The result sees Biarritz relegated from the Top 14 to the Pro D2. This brings with it both highs and lows for the Americas.

On the one hand, Biarritz is home to Canadian second-rower Evan Olmstead and to Argentine scrum-half Tomás Cubelli. The players have the choose of staying at Biarritz to play in the second division or transferring to a rival.

On the other hand, Castres took-on Biarritz with Uruguayan scrum-half Santiago Arata and Argentine fly half Benjamin Urdapilleta. Arata and Urdapilleta were both try scorers. The Uruguayan scored an impressive try while the Argentine scored one and kicked five goals.

Castres have been enjoying a solid run of results since the turn of the year. Having won four of the past five matches, Castres have risen in the Top 14 to now occupy 2nd position together with Bordeaux. With only two rounds remaining, the Tarns are well-placed to compete for French glory.
