Eagles inspire Exeter Chiefs to Allianz Cup title

Exeter Chiefs have claimed their first ever women’s title as they thrashed Harlequins 57-12 on Saturday to lift the Allianz Cup. Five USA Eagles featured for the winners, four of them starters, with four Canadian internationals featuring as replacements.

Co-captain Kate Zackary led by example with two tries, a mark matched by Hope Rogers. Gabby Cantorna contributed several important touch-finders and scored four conversions while Megan Foster came off the bench to add two conversions. Jennine Detiveaux nearly made it five-from-five but was held up in-goal at the end of the match.

Two of the Canucks made the scoresheet as Emily Tuttosi and Gabrielle Senft each touched down in the second half. DaLeaka Menin and McKinley Hunt also came on as substitutes, and USA lock Jenny Kronish started for Harlequins.

The Allianz Cup is separate from the Premier 15s competition and is designed to run during international windows. Lineups typically feature a mix of established first team players and wider squad members. The Premier 15s resumes on May 7 after the conclusion of the Women’s Six Nations tournament.
