Mateo Carreras signs Newcastle Falcons extension

Argentina winger Mateo Carreras has signed a two-year contract extension with Newcastle Falcons. The new deal keeps him at Kingston Park until at least 2024. He is currently completing his second season with the club after initially joining in December 2020.

Carreras has now featured in 13 games for the Falcons including eight this season, with appearance on both the left and right wings. His one try to date came against Gloucester in January.

This past year saw the 22-year-old Los Tarcos product make his test debut for Los Pumas, winning five caps with two tries. He is one of two Argentines at Newcastle along with midfielder Matías Orlando. Brother Santiago Carreras is currently with Premiership rivals Gloucester.
