New milestone as hot streak continues for Agustín Creevy

Agustín Creevy scored two tries for London Irish against Castres. The English Premiership vs French Top 14 fixture was a European Challenge Cup play-off. The win sees London Irish through to the Quarter Finals.

London Irish were 64-27 winners. Creevy scored the first try in the 6th minute and went over again in the 27th. He provided an assist try for fellow Argentine, Juan Martín González in the 37th minute while González set-up the team’s second try.

Creevy and González were joined by Facundo Gigena. The Córdoba prop was a replacement for London Irish. Castres also had South American involvement; Uruguayan Santiago Arata was a try scorer.

The 37-year-old Creevy may be playing his way back into Los Pumas. He was overlooked for international duty in 2020-2021. The incoming Michael Cheika may recall Creevy for Argentina’s three-match home series against Scotland in July.

His performances for London Irish this season have been outstanding. He had made 21 appearances for 15 tries. The match against Castres saw him reaching the milestone of 300 matches as a professional rugby player.

Creevy is firmly focused on helping London Irish’s rapid improvement continue. Meanwhile, the case for a test recall is gaining. Julián Montoya’s place a the starting hooker is not in question; instead, there is a need to rotate so as to have avoid underperforming by having tired players during the Rugby Championship.
