SLAR 2022: Mid-Season Statistics

SLAR 2022 has reached the midway stage. The mid-season statistics detail the team and player performances from rounds one to five of the season. All teams have done well in specific areas.

 

TEAM STATISTICS

Tries Scored
The top team in terms of tries scores in the first half of SLAR 2022 is Los Jaguares XV. The Argentine side has socred 19 tries from five league matches. The next best is Peñarol with 17 followed by the Olímpia Lions with 13. Selknam are 4th with 12 tries, Los Cafeteros Pro are 5th with 10 and Os Cobras are bottom with 8 tries.

Tries Conceded
Peñarol easily has the best defense in SLAR 2022. The Uruguayans have conceded just 3 tries thus far in the season. The second best defense is Selknam with 11 tries conceded. Third place is Los Jaguares XV with 13, followed by the Olímpia Lions with 15, Los Cafeteros Pro with 17 and Os Cobras with 20.

Tackling
Three teams lead the tackling statistics. Los Jaguares XV, Selknam and Los Cafeteros Pro all have an 86% success rate for the season thus far. Os Cobras have the lowest success rate at 74%. However, in terms of overall numbers Selknam is the competition front-runner with 422 tackles made.

Ruck Success
The team with the best control of their own ball at the ruck is the Olímpia Lions. The Paraguayan side has a 95% retention rate. All other teams have also been able to retain over 90% of their own possession.

Turnover Success
Two teams are tied for category of turnovers won. Os Cobras and Selknam have both won 23 turnovers. The Olímpia Lions have 22, Peñarol 21, Los Jaguares XV 19 and Los Cafeteros Pro 18. In short, every team has performed well in this category.

Line Breaks
Linebreaks is one area in which there is a notable variation across the six SLAR teams. Selknam is the bottom places team in this category with 8 linebreaks; a number that is fewer than two per match. Os Cobras have made 14 and Peñarol 16 to be 5th and 4th. The Olímpia Lions and Los Cafeteros Pro both made 19 breaks. The outright leaders is Los Jaguares XV with 31.

Best Scrum
The Olímpia Lions scrum leads the way in SLAR 2022 with a 91% success rate. On the flip side the team with the lowest success rate in the scrum is Los Cafeteros Pro with 78%.

Best Lineout
Peñarol have won 61 out of 74 lineouts, or an 82% success rate. The team with the worst return in this area of play os Los Jaguares XV. The Argentine side has lost one out of every three lineouts. The 66% success rate is 53 won from 80.

Yellow Cards / Red Cards
This category classifies teams from worst to best. The team with the most yellow cards is Os Cobras with 8. Los Cafeteros Pro are 5th with 7 yellow cards and Los Jaguares XV are 4th with 6. The Olímpia Lions and Selknam have both have conceded 5 yellow cards. The best team is thus Peñarol with 2 yellow cards. No teams have had a player red carded.

 

PLAYER STATISTICS

Most Points
Gerónimo Prisciantelli is the leading point scorer in SLAR 2022. He has played at both fullback and fly half for Los Jagaures XV. His 41 points are followed by Francisco Urroz’s 35 for Selknam.

Most Tries
Three players are tied for most tries. Guillermo Pujadas (Peñarol), Bautista Bernasconi (Jaguares XV) and Julián Quetglas (Olímpia Lions) have each scored three tries. Six other players have scored two tries each thus far in SLAR 2022.

Most Offloads
Two players are ties for the offload statistics. Frenchman Simon Bienvenu (Cobras) and Argentine Eliseo Morales (Cafeteros Pro) have both made 5 offloads. The next best is also split as Tomás Inciarte (Peñarol) and Marcos Amorisa (Cafeteros Pro) have both made 4.

Most Tackles
Brazilian Cléber Días is the leading tackler in SLAR 2022. The Cobras forward has made 41 tackles, one more than Santiago Civetta of Peñarol.
