Los Pumas to be based in Ville de La Baule at RWC 2023

It has been confirmed that Los Pumas will be based in Ville de La Baule at Rugby World Cup 2023. The leading competitor from the Americas will be based in the Southern Brittany beach resort town on France’s Atlantic Coast.

Ville de La Baule is located between Nantes and Vannes. The South Americans will play game’s three and four of their pool fixtures in Nantes. Vannes is also an important location due to it being the current home of Pumas back-rowers Francisco Gorrissen and Rodrigo Bruni. Both players are on the radar for RWC 2023.

Argentina’s four pool matches will be played across three French cities. Los Pumas will open against England at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille on Saturday, September 09, 2023. It is the toughest of the four matches. 

Los Pumas’ fixture list sees matches against RWC 2019 Quarter Finalists in the first and fourth fixtures. Fixture two will be against Samoa at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard in St. Étienne on Friday, September 22. From there Argentina will play in Nantes, located close to the base of the Ville de La Baule.

Game three will be an all-Americas match-up. Argentina will face Americas 2 in Nantes on Saturday, September 30, 2023. Americas 2 will be the winner of the USA vs Chile. They are to play a home-and-away series in July to determine who qualifies and who enters repechage. In the event that Chile overcomes the USA then there will be a historic, first-ever South American pool match in a RWC.
