Top 14 Tribute to Fede Aramburú at Toulouse vs Montpellier

Federico Martín Aramburú was paid tribute to on Sunday in Toulouse. The 22-time-capped Puma was murdered in Paris in the early hours of Saturday in a drive-by-shooting. The former Top 14 player was paid tribute to in a venue wherein he played as a professional. Toulouse vs Montpellier mourned and celebrated the life of Fede.

During his professional career, Fede Aramburú played against both Toulouse and Montpellier. The Argentine center / wing played for French clubs Biarritz, Perpignan, and Dax. He was a two-time French champion with Biarritz.

Toulouse are the reigning French champions. Puma Juan Cruz Mallía and Santaigo Chocobares helped the team to the Top 14 title in 2020. Both started for Toulouse against Montpellier on Saturday. Fittingly, Mallía was a tryscorer.

Former Puma Mauricio Reggiardo was at the stadium for the contest. The video tribute focused on Toulouse’s two Argentine backs and on Reggiardo in attendance. Reggiardo played at RWCs 1999 and 2003 for Argentina and Aramburú played at RWC 2007 while Mallía played at RWC 2019. Mallía and Chocobares are both likely to play at RWC 2023.
