Seawolves conquer Jackals in Dallas

The Seattle Seawolves came, saw, and conquered Dallas at Choctaw Stadium on Saturday. Seattle were 34-12 winners over the Jackals. The convincing performance places the Seattle Seawolves well for upcoming MLR matches.

Seattle’s win was comfortable. Not only were more tries scored by the visitors but the home team’s disciplinary concerns affected the outcome. The Dallas Jackals were down to 14 men early as Matt Frings was red carded for punching.

The red card incident was ultimately game over. There was still plenty of time remaining, though the Seattle Seawolves had already been in control when the act of foul play occurred.

JP Smith scored the game’s first try. The Seattle scrum-half touched down in just the second minute of play. Fullback Mat Turner went over for Seattle’s second try and the scoresheet ticket over with Kieran Joyce on target with his goal-kicking.

The Dallas Jackals scored a try of their own. Winger Eric Naposki found his way into the try zone but the score would be an isolated incident as the Seattle Seawolves hit back through captain Riekert Hattingh.

The team’s traded tries late in the contest to complete what was an entertaining match of rugby. The better team won; an outcome that reflects where both sides are at the present point of MLR season 2022.

The win moves the Seattle Seawolves up above the San Diego Legion to now occupy second spot in the MLR Western Conference. The Washington state side will have the opportunity to win again next weekend; They play host to the 2021 MLR champions, the LA Giltinis. The Dallas Jackals have a bye next round.
