Olímpia Lions push hard but Jaguares XV still unbeaten

The Olímpia Lions pushed Los Jaguares XV hard in the second half of their contest today in Chile. Ultimately, a strong start and finish proved more than sufficient for the Argentine SLAR franchise to still be unbeaten in the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby.

Los Jaguares XV won the contest by scoring seven tries to three. Of the Argentine team’s tries three were scored by Martín Bogado. The former Olímpia Lion touched down in the try zone for a first-half hat-trick.

Also impressive was fullback Gerónimo Prisciantelli. He scored the opening try of the match and added two late conversions. His two late conversions took Los Jaguares XV up from a 35-22 lead to a 49-22 victory.

The Olímpia Lions were causing Los Jaguares XV defensive problems in the second half. The scrum was a notable issue, which resulted in the Paraguayan franchise having the better of play for long periods during the second half.

With the Olímpia Lions hot on attack they looked to be closing in on a crucial score early in the third quarter. Los Jaguares XV held out and no Olímpia Lions points were added.

With the win, Los Jaguares XV are top of the SLAR table on 10 competition points. The Olímpia Lions remain on four points. The Olímpia Lions face Peñarol in round three while Los Jaguares XV face Selknam.
