Manuel Plaza to play for Narbonne until 2024

Manuel Plaza has signed a new contract with Narbonne. The 25-year-old will continue playing for the club until 2024. The new contract comes during what has been a busy season for the second-rower from Argentina. He started 9 out of 10 matches in the first half of the Pro D2 season.

Plaza stands at 1.98m (6’6″) tall and weighs 117kg. (258 lbs). He hails from Salta and is a product of Salta Jockey Club. He made his test debut for Argentina against Paraguay in 2015. Argentina were 71-7 winners in Asunción. The match is Plaza’s only cap thus far.

In addition to playing against Paraguay, Plaza has also represented his country in non-capped internationals. He played for the Argentina XV in 2015-2016 and for Argentina at u19 level in 2014 and at u20 level in 2015.

Plaza moved from Argentina to France to play professional rugby in 2016. He initially joined the Perpignan espoirs. His time at Narbonne followed and will continue, with a question mark surrounding whether it will be in the Pro D2 or lower.

Narbonne are presently at the foot of the Pro D2. After 23 rounds of the season, Narbonne have 30 points. The second-to-bottom Rouen Normandie and Bressane are both on 37. In other words, Narbonne needs to overtake them both to get out of the relegation zone.
