Matera has played in all three of the Super Rugby 2022 matches thus far for the Crusaders. He played in his natural position of flanker in round one against the Hurricanes and in round two against the Highlanders.
In round three, Matera not only played N8 but he was also used as the prime lineout target. His five lineup wins were the most of all Crusaders’ jumpers during the match.
The 28-year-old joined the Crusaders for the 2022 season from Stade Français. He previously played Super Rugby for Los Jaguares and in the English Premiership for the Leicester Tigers. His 80 test caps place him as the 10th most capped Puma of all-time.
Argentina will play two matches in New Zealand as part of the 2022 Rugby Championship. Matera will have the unique opportunity of playing for Argentina on his home ground of Christchurch as the All Blacks host Los Pumas in the South Island city this year.
