Peñarol Suffer Manuel Diana Blow

Peñarol have suffered a major pre-season blow. N8 Manuel Diana is out through injury and has undergone surgery. His place on the roster has been taken by Francisco Suárez Folch from Argentina.

Diana has 33 caps for Uruguay. He is the starting N8 for Los Teros. He started at RWC 2019 and also in the RWC 2023 qualifiers in 2022. He is now to recover before returning to play again. It is a significant blow to Peñarol; his new club following two seasons in the MLR with the Toronto Arrows. Suárez Folch joins Peñarol from La Plata. He is uncapped.

There are additional question marks over Peñarol forwards. Second-rowers Juanjuan Garese and Felipe Aliaga have also both suffered injuries. They are out of the Peñarol roster for the beginning of the 2022 SLAR season.
