Argentina Takes Control of Cafeteros Pro

Colombia Rugby (FECO) has entered an alliance with Argentina Rugby (UAR) and Sudamérica Rugby for the upcoming Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR). The relationship will see the UAR in control of Cafeteros Pro for the 2022 SLAR campaign.

Changes from 2021 see Los Cafeteros Pro having 73% of their funding from the Colombian Ministry of Sport. The remainder is from other sources, including the UAR.

The Colombian SLAR side will have a 30-man playing roster. It will contain ten Colombians and twenty Argentines. The team is to be coached by Argentine Nicolás Galatro. He replaces Rodolfo Ambrosio for the upcoming season.

Los Cafeteros Pro are yet to confirm their playing roster for SLAR 2022. The five other SLAR competitors have all finalized their rosters for the season. Americas Rugby News can confirm that Franco Giudice, Tomás Bertot, and Juan Bautista Mernes will be Cafeteros this year.

Los Cafeteros Pro are to travel to Chile on March 01. The team will take on Los Jaguares XV in Valparaíso, Chile in round one of the 2022 season on March 13.
