It was tears of joy for Colombia as Las Tucanes defeated Kazakhstan 18-10 earlier today in Dubai. The result sees Kazakhstan eliminated from the Women’s Rugby World Cup qualifiers and Colombia are through to the final against Scotland. The Colombia vs Scotland Play-Off will be played this coming Friday in Dubai.
Not only did Las Tucanes win against a notably higher ranked opponents, the Colombians got th job down despite playing 65 minutes with a one-woman disadvantage. The South Americans touched down in the try zone through Juliana Soto and María Isabel Arzuaga though it was truly a team performance.
The winner of the Colombia vs Scotland Final Place Play-Off Qualifier will quality for the Women’s World Cup later this year. The team will compete in Pool A against Australia, New Zealand and Wales. Pool B contains Canada, Italy, Japan and the USA. Pool C will consist of England, Fiji, France and South Africa.
The 2022 Women’s World Cup was planned as the 2021 World Cup. The altered dates mean the competition will take place from October 08 to November 12. All matches will be played in New Zealand.
