Olímpia Lions recruit Mariano Romanini

Mariano Romanini will play Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) for the Olímpia Lions. The N8 is the latest Argentine confirmed to play for the Paraguayan franchise in the upcoming SLAR season.

The Olímpia Lions will be Romanini’s first foreign club. This is so despite him previouly having been on the radar for Los Jaguares in Super Rugby. He played for the Argentina XV in the Americas Rugby Championship (ARC) and was a part of the 2016 Argentine u20s team.

Romanini is the sixth Argentine recruited by the Olímpia Lions for the 2022 SLAR season. He follows Estanislao Arrías, Federico Simondi, Facundo Villalba, Conrado Iglesias, and Julián Quetglas.

Aged 25, Romanini is a highly gifted back-rower. He has a strong defensive and offensive game and is also a reliable worker in the linout. He is a product of Alumni in Buenos Aires.
